9.CHIGI = STRIKING   
Chigi is a strike Technique. 
These techniques can be performed with Sonnal, Sonnal-Deung, Sondeung, Me-Joomeok, Deung-Joomeok, Batangson, Palkoop en Mooreup.
   
There are several direction the strike can be performed:
   
Ap Chigi  Strike tot he front 4
An Chigi      Strike tot he inner 3
Bakat Chigi    Strike tot the outer 7
Naeryo Chigi  Downward strike 5
   
Examples:   
   
Han Sonnal Mok An Chigi  Horizontal strike with the knife hand from the outer to the inner 3
Han Sonnal Bakat Chigi  Horizontal strike with the knife hand from the inner to the outer 9
Me-Joomeok Bakat Chigi  Downward strike with hammer fist
Batangson Teok Chigi Strike with the palm of the hand (mostly to the chin) 10
Jibipoom Mok Chigi   Double technique: Sonnal Eolgool Makki and simultaneously Sonnal Mok An  Chigi. 4
Jibipoom Teok Chigi    Double technique: Sonnal Eogool Makki and simultaneously Bantangson Teok  Chigi.   
Deung-Joomeok Eolgool Ap Chigi   Strike to the front with the back of the fist (mostly on the chin). 5
Geodeuro Deung-Joomeok Eolgool Ap Chigi    Supporting strike to the front with the back of the fist towards the head. 13
   
P.S. Geodeuro (‘supporting’) : the other hand partly follows the movement of the attack, mostly up to the elbow or forearm.
   
Me-Joomeok Naeryo Chigi Downward strike with hammer fist 5
   
Strikes can also performed with the elbow. Different directions are known:
   
Ap Chigi  Strike to the front (also known as Dollyeo Chigi = turned inwardly to the head) 4
Ollyeo Chigi  Upward strike (to the chin)  
Yeop Chigi   Sideway strike 16
Dwit Chigi Backward strike
Naeryo Chigi  Downward strike  
   
P.S. In case  the opponent is griped during the strike, the name ‘Pyojeok’( = target) is added.
   
Examples:
   
Palkoop Pyojeok Ap Chigi  Elbow strike to the front with while the opponent is griped with the other hand on the back 5
Palkoop Yeop Chigi Elbow strike to side
Palkoop Dwit Chigi  Elbow strike to back
 
There are two different attacks with the knee:
Mooreup Chigi Strike with the knee while the opponent is griped
Mooreup Chagi  Strike with the knee without griping the opponent
   
Although it is not quite expected, the name ‘Pyojeok’ is not added to  the technique name Mooreup Chigi.
